How do I obtain a permit to open a restaurant?
To apply for a permit to open a restaurant or other food-related permits, visit the Restaurant and Bar Inspection Division at 7901 Goforth Road, Dallas, TX 75238. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm (closed for lunch from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm). You must bring a valid photo identification, sales tax permit, and a $300 application free plus an additional $250 fee if plans are submitted for review. Call (214) 670-8083 for information. Can I cook food at home to sell?
No. All food intended for general public consumption, whether free or for sale, must be prepared at a commercial establishment that is inspected by a federal, state, or local health authority.
Where can I go to take the Registered Food Service Manager class?
