Gas Exploration - Information on City-owned Property Leasing

The City issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) in July of 2007 for companies interested in leasing city-owned property for natural gas drilling and production.  The RFP included properties located on the western edge of the City within the Barnett Shale area.  In February 2008, the City executed agreements with XTO Energy and Trinity East Energy, LLC for a total one-time bonus of approximately $33.8 million.

For additional information regarding the City-owned leased property, please see the map and presentation below.  The precise drilling locations are still to be determined and will be approved by the City Plan Commission and the Dallas City Council.
